Notes on chapter one.

 

  • Teenagers have many problems they must deal with now-a-days. drugs, sex, dating, school, parents, ect.
  • When a survey was taken it was found that most teenagers had six big problems. These were then listed as the "the six most important decisions" they're to ever make for they can shape one's future. 
  • These six are...
  1. School: What will be done with education? Homework stress?
  2. Friends: What types of people to hang around with? What if someone's good friend takes the wrong path?
  3. Parents: Do parent and child get along?
  4. Dating and sex: Who to date? What to do about sex?
  5. Addictions: Smoking? drinking? Drugs?
  6. Self worth: Does one like oneself? Self esteem?
     
  • Where one ends up in ten or so years is up to oneself!
  • Parents are embarrassing but as you get older they seem to magically mature and become cool again.

 

Notes on chapter two.

  • paradigm is point of view--perception.
  • paradigm shift is change of point of view or perception.
  • Habit one: be proactive. 
  • Stick it to the man- take responsibility for your life.
  • Create a map for life--a goal in life.
  • principles are natural laws. things that are always around
  • make relationships work both ways, make it a win-win.
  • listening is key. isten before talking

 

Notes on chapter three

  • dropping out seems easy now, you get rid of grades and homework quickly.
  • Though one can live cheapy and with room mates, its simple to get bored of that life and when you want to move up in the world you cant without a good job, and good jobs are often earned when one stays in school and gets a good education.
  • a main reason for teens to drop out is becuase everyone else did in their family.
  • lack of sleep can cause lower grades and grumpyness and stressing over what otherwise would be nothing.
  • there are different types of intelegents: IQ (mental) EQ (emotional)  SQ (spiritual) and PQ (physical)
  • how to get good grades: believe in yourself, show up, do extra credit, get on your teacher's good side, be strong in the redzone(end), get your resouars together, develop a study habit.
  • find what your good at and enjoy and study it, try to make a job out of it.

 

Notes on chapter four

  • friends will all eventually show their true colors and values. This can either hurt or help friendships
  • Do not cling to friends, they'll always be there if theyre worth keeping
  • Be quick to forgive friends as you hope they'll forgive you.
  • if bullied or gossiped about, live above it or try to talk it out.
  • be slow to judge! you don't know everyone's background.
  • you give what you get: actually true to include and listen to your friends.
  • Be kind to people even if they're unkind to you. Sometimes you can make friends out of enemies! 
  • Always remember who you are--dont let your friends force you into things you dont want to do. 

Notes on chapter five

  • Open up to your parents do not close yourself off
  • they'll be there for you always and stuff
  • Try not to lie to them you live with them, its hard to hide stuff.
  • do things without being asked.
  • When parents compare, chances are they don't really know how much they're hurting you.
  • Parents and children see through different eyes, worry about different things.
  • first try to understand then be understood
  • love them and forgive them when need may be

Notes on chapter six

  • Take relationships slow
  • theyre complicated
  • do not revolve your life around your boyfriend/girlfriend
  • know how to get out of an abulsive relationship
  • Be with someone who respects you and your standards/choices.
  • Try to dare people around your age. Also dont date too young when you're too dumb or immature to know better
  • Get to know a lot of people before dateing someone
  • Less people than thought actually have sex.
  • Sex, even if ":safe" always has risks.

Notes on chapter seven

  • Adictions are very heard to just break
  • It effects everyone around you!
  • Drugs distroy lives and dreams making you pay for them your entire life
  • Alcohol is the catolist for about 75% of rapes
  • tabacco's nicotine is poison!
  • also kills and casues cancer
  • Steriouds cases many health problems and pysical problems like balding
  • porn is highly addictive and like a drug in that sense

Notes on chapter eight

  • Self worth helps resist peer pressure and gets you to try good, new things!
  • People see you differently--in a distorted way
  • Helping people helps you feel good about yourself
  • having faith in something makes good things happen!
  • Eating right will also help with self worth
  • niceness is true beauty
